🤖 Robot in your garage – a blessing or a curse?
Imagine:
You enter in the morning, your garage. The hardest part of the job is already done – not a Trainee, but of a System, the thinks, learns and adapts. No Science Fiction scenario, but Reality 2026. The AI-robotics in the craft has arrived!
My Thesis:
The AI is craft do not replace – you will free. Get rid of repetitive load, of monotony, of everything that prevents us from to do what we really love: be creative, solve problems, Material with all of your senses to understand.
But – and this is the "But"that is of concern to me – we are losing in this way, the soul of our work?
The Craftsman a The Parameter Adjustor? Or will we finally get back to the the true core of the craft: Think, Create, Experience?

🔨 The digital Hammer: Why AI-robotics is more than just a tool
Long was: Robots in the automotive industry. Conveyor Belts, Welding Seams, Mass Production. Today, however, we speak of "Physical KI" Machines not rigidly programmedbut learn by watching, Simulate, and – Yes – through trial and error.
📌 What does this mean for your craft?
| Area | Traditionally, | With AI-robotics | Your Benefit |
|---|---|---|---|
| Precision | Manual Fine-Tuning | Robotic arm sets perfect welding seams | You focus on Design & Statics |
| Prototyping | Week-Long Adaptation | Generative Design Software created variations in hours | Faster Testing, more iterations |
| Material processing | Experience & Feeling | Sensors measure voltage, temperature, humidity | Less waste, more quality |
| Customer communication | Sketches & Explanations | AR glasses show 3D models in real time | Customers immediately understand what you mean |
💡 Example:
In my article "From the anvil to the 3D lab: How digital Tools of the craft revolutionize" I have already shown how the tools change. However, the AI-robotics is the next step: You does the repetitive workwhile are you on the Essential focus – Creativity, Problem-Solution, Craft, Art.

⚖️ Between efficiency, noise, and critical distance: Where is the "moment of Happiness in the Making"?
I stand by this development with a laughing and a crying eye ends to.
✅ The Smiling Eye:
- Precision we could never reach (for example, Robots Micro-chips with Nanometer accuracy place).
- Time savingthat allows us to, more projects implement.
- New Opportunities, e.g., custom mass-production ("Mass Customization").
❌ The Wine At The End Of The Eye:
- Where is the Prideif the machine will do the lion's share of the work?
- We lose the sense of Materialif we just sit still on the screen?
- Crafts for pure data analysis?
📊 The hard truth:
According to a Study at the TU Wien could by 2030, nearly 40 % of our current Skills will be out of date. But – and this is crucial – it especially concerns the "Processing".
The Ability To To solve problems in a creative way, To understand Material with all of your senses and to communicate with customers, it can copy any KI.

**🛠️ Practical tips: how to integrate AI-robotics without losing your soul
🔹 1. Stay curious – but stay skeptical
- Testing Tools such as:
- Autodesk Generative Design (for optimized parts)
- KUKA.Robotics (for precision manufacturing)
- Universal Robots (for flexible automation)
- Always questioning the result: This is really better or faster?
🔹 2. You focus on the "Uncopyable"
Your strongest weapons against the automation:
✔ Experience – No AI has 20 years of the Workshop.
✔ Aesthetic Sense – A robot does not recognize what is "beautiful".
✔ Customer relationship – People buy from people, not machines.
💡 Mini-Exercise: Take 10 minutes and think about:
- What are the 3 things in your craft making you unique?
- How can you make these skills even more in the foreground?
🔹 3. Connect and learn from other industries
- Look at how the art AI uses:
→ My Portfolio on the artist.Roland wegerer.at shows how I Technology and creativity connect. - Examples:
- "The Next Rembrandt" – A 3D-printed paintingdesigned by an algorithm.
- Sougwen Chung – An artist, the with a robotic arm together paints.

🎯 The answer to the initial question: do we Need soon no hands?
A clear: YES. More than ever!
But, we are you otherwise use.
- Less "Machine" – more "Conductor".
- Less "Work" – more "Make".
- Less "fight Alone" – more "Collaborate".
The AI-robotics takes us to the Last – but we keep the baton.
The future of work is not Replace, but Complement each other.
💬 And now you fear or opportunity?
What do you think?
- You Fear of automation in your area?
- Or do you see the A rescue in front of the shortage of skilled workers?
- Which Tool would you test?
Write me a comment – I'm curious on your perspective!
